New profile pages and upcoming excitement
I added profile pages to PlaylistLove. If you click the person icon on the top or anyone’s name on the site it will take you to the new profiles. It shows the person’s song recs and any activity (comments or favorites) on any of those songs.

Also, I have an exciting new layout in the works. Some of the benefits include:
- Persistent playlist across all pages
- Add songs to the queue from any page (just like in Grooveshark)
- Favorite or comment on the currently playing song
I’m continuing to update the playlist algorithm so if anyone has any comments or thoughts on that please let me know at mike@playlistlove.com.
Playlists are a little different now
I updated the algorithm for generating the playlists. The original method only used the artist picks you made when you signed up for PlaylistLove. It was a very basic calculation picking the users who made the most similar picks that you made.
The new method is a blend of those artist questions and any favorites you make on the site. Every song you favorited plays into next week’s playlist. I also am giving some weight to your favorites’ users’ favorites (if that makes any sense). So if you liked Jimmy’s song last week he has a better chance of showing up in next weeks playlist. Also, if Jimmy liked Mark and Kate’s song picks, Mark and Kate are slightly more likely to show up in yours as well.
Hopefully these weekly playlists will be more tailored to you over time. So start marking your favorites and let the system do its thing.
